“China-Venezuela Economic and Trade Seminar”, jointly sponsored by MOFCOM and Venezuelan Ministry of Commerce, opened or inaugurated on June 18 in Caracas, Venezuela. Lu Jianhua, Assistant Minister of Commerce, Mr. Eduardo•Salman, Venezuelan Minister of Commerce, and Zhang Tuo, Chinese Ambassador to Venezuela, addressed the seminar. About 400 people from China and Venezuelan business attended the seminar.

Lu Jianhua pointed out in his speech that, affected by the financial crisis, global economic development is facing great challenge. Both China and Venezuela are developing country at crucial development stage. China is happy to work together with Venezuela to enhance confidence, turn the crises into opportunities, strengthen bilateral cooperation in earnest, It is not only of great significance for the two countries presently, but also for time to come, in coping with the global financial crisis, and in laying a solid foundation for development. Holding the Economic and Trade Seminar and China Industrial Products Expo in Venezuela is a action of the two countries in jointly responding to the global financial crisis and promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation and development.

The seminar is good for Chinese enterprises to gain a deeper understanding on the economic and trade policies of Venezuela and its market. Communication and exchange were promoted, and confidence in exploring market enhanced.
